Founded in 2013, Wallplay has gone on to expand to over 26 locations in New York City over the past 6 years with its unique business model.
Wallplay is a hyperlocal platform that programs & operates vacant commercial spaces until long term tenants move in. In the summer of 2018 Wallplay co-created and launched ON CANAL, “the district for new ideas” taking over 22 storefronts on Canal Street for experiential pop-ups. Wallplay also has two spaces in the Seaport District which will host experiential art installations & pop-ups.
Wallplay is committed to its social impact mission of repurposing empty spaces for public good. We have hosted over 200 exhibitions and our public art programming has reached millions of New Yorkers.
Over the course of the year, at least 50% occupancy of the spaces that Wallplay operates are dedicated to the creative community for innovation & art programming that engages with the public in a direct and tangible way.
The other 50%, comprised of culturally relevant commercial pop-ups, event rentals and sponsorships, help subsidize the cost for arts & innovation programming.
